This week in Wonderland...
Speaking of Wonderland, Janell Monae started her own record label!!! We're from the same city and she inspires me to keep moving towards my vision. I know I can make it happen.
Hubby got a promotion!!! He's now a service technician and his promotion included a raise and company car. He's been working so hard these past six months making sure he was qualified to apply again and our prayers were answered this month. Won't HE do it? Now I'm hoping it's my turn at work to get promoted. I've been working my butt off and patience isn't always easy, but I have faith that I'll be the one they want.
Nephew Gerry moved in with us at the start of the year and starts classes at Le Cordon Bleu next month. It's been a good experience so far, but I think he'll be with us a while longer before he can get established. He's still learning how to be independent and we don't want him to struggle.
Angel (furry child) is now allowed to run around the house when we're not home! I'm so glad she doesn't have to wait in her kennel all day long anymore.

This week in Wonderland...
Greetings all! I know it's been quite a while since my last post, but that's because I've been crazy busy.
We road tripped up to Kansas City for an early Thanksgiving Dinner with the fam. It was in response to my nephew being accepted into the Navy and we wanted to all be together before he left. This was probably the best Thanksgiving I've ever had in my life. I love family! We're also preparing to welcome one of my other nephews into our home as he pursues his dream in culinary arts. We're going to help him get enrolled, get an apartment, and be his support team as he attends Le Cordon Bleu in Dallas, Tx. Can you say proud auntie?!
(A very old pic of my handsome nephews)
I'm writing again and actually enjoying the slowness of it all. A few guys at work are encouraging me to submit my story to Bungee and I'm kinda floored. I never thought of my work being a video game, but anything is possible and I'm a trailblazer! I want to do so many things in life, but nothing will happen if I don't act. This year is going to be full of awesome milestones. Stay tuned!

This week in Wonderland...
I hit a major milestone yesterday by finishing my edits to my first complete manuscript for my novel, The Premiere. After attending a writer's conference this summer, I knew I had to extend it by at least 10,000 words to fit the genre (young adult/teen lit) and I'm proud to report that I added a little over 12,000 :) I'm an artist, and I want to be a full time writer. I never thought I would come this far but now that I'm here, I'm doing everything I can to make it happen. It's been a dream of mine for years and sometimes it's tough because not many people think it's realistic. Even my family members push me towards more "practical" options, but they can't see my vision.
But they will.
In other news, I have a major presentation at work next week in front of the regional president and other big wigs. I'm not nervous yet, but I get that this is a huge opportunity to get my name out there. I don't know how long I'll be with the company, but at this rate, I may be getting into a position that I enjoy enough to stay, even when I start bringing in money from writing. I'll keep you posted.

This week in Wonderland...
I just got back from a lovely holiday in Los Angeles, California and it was just what I needed. I took my husband there to try to get him to fall in love with the city, introduced him to my friends (I lived in LA for 3 months a few years ago) and took him to In-And-Out Burger for the first time. He loved it, and even asked if we could stay for an extra day!
And the best part? My sorority sister gave us two free tickets to Disneyland, and neither of us had ever been! This is gonna sound really cheesy, but IT WAS SO MAGICAL! I got the Minnie ears and everything! When we got back home, my sister freaked out because our phones died and ended up banging down our door at 6 the next morning.
Nice.
I work retail, in telecommunications, and I just survived the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It wasn't my first rodeo, but I couldn't wait to go home. We had to report heck a early to a line of 25 people already in the queue outside, and opened the doors at 8 to loyal Apple cult initiates, two hours earlier than normal.
This should have been a great day for commissions, the chance to make a lot of money, but out of the 11 hours I spent in the store, I didn't get a single new activation. But the store got 34!
How can this have happened?!
You know what sucks? I worked hard! I demoed accessories, talked about tablets, and pushed the 20% discount we had going on all of our Beats products, but nothing!
You know what else? I'm the only girl in the building. That's right, my staff is entirely made of men (mostly young and dumb, but men none the less). Most days I'm borderline between cute and friendly, and irritated and defensive. Crude language, inappropriate references, just completely surrounded by 'boys being boys'. So how do you think I feel being the only girl and the weakest link yesterday?
Worst launch ever!
